44 people have died from coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said today.
COVID-19 : Bangladesh recorded total 84,379 infected cases whereas China identified 83,075 cases till date, and Bangladesh has overtaken China in terms of infected cases.
The death toll now stands at 1,139 and the death rate at 1.35% in terms of total infected cases, Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General (Administration) of DGHS, said during a briefing.
Two thousand eight hundred and fifty-six (2,856) people have identified as positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.
The latest figures take the total number of infections in the country to 84,379 which cross number of infected cases in China .
A total of 489,960 including 16,638 samples have been tested in 59 labs across the country in the last 24 hours, Dr Nasima said.

Meanwhile, 578 Covid-19 patients have recovered since yesterday, taking the total number of recoveries to 17,827 and recovery rate to 21.13%, the DGHS official added.
China
Chinese health authorities said Saturday that it received reports of 11 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on the Chinese mainland on Friday, of which six were local transmissions. No new deaths were reported.
The six local infections were all reported in Beijing, the National Health Commission announced in its daily report.
The commission also identified seven new asymptomatic patients.
The total number of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland stands at 83,075 and the cumulative death toll at 4,634, while 98 asymptomatic patients are under medical observation.
Health authorities said two patients were discharged on Friday, bringing the total number of recovered cases to 78,367.
On Friday, northeast China’s Liaoning Province registered two asymptomatic cases, both of which are close contacts with the new confirmed cases reported in Beijing on the same day.
Total confirmed cases in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and the Taiwan region are as follows:
Hong Kong: 1,108 (1,060 recoveries, four deaths)
Macao: 45 (45 recoveries)
